goodbye my love
Guys, I’ve been playing the Sims 4 for about an hour and a half now, and now I feel like it’s imperative to write something GOOD about the game so HOPEFULLY the series can start hearing ANYTHING other than about how it abandoned toddlers and swimming pools. I swear ever since information started releasing about Sims 4, the social focus has constantly been on what the game isn’t.
Here’s the thing.
I played the game. Immediately, I felt pretty immersed in that brand-new Sims game experience. Maxis has a great way of doing that with their series. The menus are simple and clean and they do a better job with the design so it takes less away from your Sim’s lives. That is actually one of the main points I want to make in summary. Yes, they simplified things, but it works REALLY well and creates a great, almost unexplainable FRESH feeling.
My computer is an average speed computer. It’s an economy desktop that I purchased for web browsing and media creation and is not by any means a “gaming” computer. The Sims 4 runs quickly, however. And this is DAY ONE of release so normally with EA, you KNOW you come to expect a lot of problems. It starts up fast, the loading screens are fast and it even saves faster. I’m talking a matter of SECONDS. This contributes a ton to that fresh feeling because you’re not getting clogged up and grungy with long waits. You know what I did while I saved on The Sims 2 and 3? I went and made a sandwich.
There is no longer an open world structure when playing your Sim, so yes it DOES need to load new lots. Fortunately, those loading screens ranged anywhere from 5-15 seconds and the lots individually seemed to run a lot smoother with a lot less lagging that I’ve become accustomed to on TS3.
I think the phrase less is more REALLY applies here. I feel invested in the game with what IS offered and have yet to stop and think “damn, this feature is missing!” I don’t want to make a long post about every cool new feature that’s offered in the game. I just want to toss my two-cents out in the feed-back fountain now that it’s being thrown by someone who actually has played the game.
For anyone who is facing a mountain of debt after they graduate check out this amazing idea:
